| Rye Neck and Community Service |
Community service is imbedded in the fabric of our school district. Over 15 years ago Rye Neck included community service as a requirement for HS graduation and was the first district to be challenged in Federal Court. Over the years, community service has grown into a rich and important program for our students with lifelong benefits. This service takes many forms and continues to translate into student global awareness and responsibility. This was most recently demonstrated in our student body support of the tragedy in Haiti. |

| 2010-2011 District Calendar |
The 2010-11 school calendar is in the works. As you have heard us say many times, Rye Neck has one of the longest instructional calendars in the county. We know that time in school is imperative to our success, but balancing our instructional days with vacation days is a delicate act. We look forward to our calendar being reviewed and accepted by the BOE shortly and then it will be posted for your information. |

| Program and Priorities |
Thank you to the twenty volunteers who have been meeting with Dr. Mustich on the Programs and Priorities committee. This is the second year for this very valuable committee which provides input for the BOE on what programs are most valued. This public engagement continues to provide information and build capacity as the BOE works on the fiscal plan for the upcoming school year. |

| Message from Dr. Mustich about State Aid |
As you are aware, we were very concerned about the delay of state aid payments that the Governor imposed in December for our district. This represented $550,000 of monies that we had planned for, and were expecting, this school year. After much lobbying and discussion, the Governor released the money for this year. We are still very concerned with the state of the State and the impact this can have on our fiscal plans. We continue to work to secure what our District deserves as we look forward to the 2010-11 budget. |
